The current discussion is having Faith in God in a secular world. We have been looking at Abraham's life in the Old Testament and his Faith in God. If you have any questions on Faith, then here is the place to ask.
If you are reading your Bible or come up with other questions about life during the day, then this is also the place to ask. I will do my best to seek out God and answer your questions to help you with your daily walk in this life.
FIRST THOUGHT -- "Faith is the evidence of things not seen." Think on that sentence for a moment. If faith is evidence, then it is tangible and it is real. In this case it means that Faith is proof. Proof of what? It is proof that God has decided in His infinite wisdom that He will prove to mankind that he exists through the Faith of His people. If you are a follower of Jesus Christ, then that means you. That also means that the proof God will use to show the world that He is the Lord is by your everyday belief, attitude and decisions you live your life by. Therefore, the proof God will show the world that He is alive is not by great signs and wonders, but by the way you choose to live your life everyday.

Good start. Faith is the very essence of obedient living. It's spiritual reality as opposed to human perspective.

All right . . . I'll bite. Faith is "tangible"?
Evidence does NOT have to be tangible. It can be simply "circumstancial" in a legal realm as well as the spiritual.
Faith cannot be touched, IMOO (In My Obnoxious Opinon.). It accounts for nothing, however, if we leave it at that.
When I go to the light switch and pull on the toggle, you cannot "touch" the faith I have that the light is going to be turned on. You can touch the switch and the hot light bulb and scream to high heaven, but there is no "touching" available in the faith realm.
Neither can you "touch" the faith I have in God that as long as I acknowledge Him, He'll take care of me and direct my paths. (Or any other faith issue, for that matter.) You can "touch" the scripture in the Bible that I glean that from, but you cannot touch the bridge that transforms knowledge (truth) into observable behavior.
Another definition of faith and one I appreciate more fully, is that it is the bridge between our motives and volitional reasons for why we do what we do, and observable behavior. It puts truth into motion and action.
Faith and belief CANNOT be touched. It IS evidence. What we do with our faith and belief, our observable behavior, can indeed be touched and is therefore both physical and tangible. (As long as faith, the bridge, is based on Truth, the physical action will not be moralized, one way or the other.)
It is NOT enough just to believe and have faith. It must transform itself into OBEDIENT, observable behavior via the intangible bridge link of faith, or it is for naught.
Faith cannot be maintained or attained without resulting in observable behavior. (Observable Behavior: The result of faith based on truth.)
Just a slight difference from what you stated, although I probably feel we're getting to the same end?

Amen to all the comments! I have used the light switch often to describe acting in Faith, is also acting in the Confidence Knowing that even though You personally cannot produce the outcome you are totally trusting in God's Power alone, but Acting on Faith in Faith, In a Power above our own will produce as Bro Hardy says, tangible results. Also, acting in that same Faith because of Your confidence in God, will produce complete Joy and Peace, trusting that whatever the outcome is, You trust God's Will. I also, relate it to Concrete thinking and Abstract Concepts. We are placing a Concrete thought into an invisble Being.
(Well, invisible to the world, Scripture tells us to See God is His Creation) Some people find it hard to place Trust in something unseen,that is why it is called Faith. But As God Did the Mighty Things He has done through each of us,through the centuries of other's lives, others have seen the Glory of God,(the tangible results of Faith) His power to Heal someone Instantly without explanation, His power to Change a Person's character or beliefs and Outlook on Life, is a Miracle! And only By God's Power is this possible. There is no 10 step program to Faith in God, Either You have it or you don't. And if you got it, You walk in it, You live it and You share it.
